Setup Photographs

A wonderful line up of people to photograph, these were the corporate head shots we completed before attempting the more creative portraits with props.

Here’s a client who knows exactly what they want. Ashburton Cookery School has built a fantastic reputation in a very short space of time, simply by being very, very professional in all that they do. I was called in to create new images of their chefs, but asked to avoid the same old head shots. ‘Lets try and get something with a bit more pzaz.’ The Managing Director has a background in marketing and design, and bags of vision. He wanted to capture the life, exuberance and dynamism of their head chefs. Perfect.

We did do the straight stuff, head shots, with a hint of personality, but it was the later-in-the-evening shots when the chefs pulled out a huge fish, a crab, and a bucket load of enthusiasm that the shoot really flowed and Dominic's ideas came to fruition.

I used a range of lighting, from a single soft box set up (chef portraits) to three or four lights for the bigger group shots, including using a lovely big Elinchrom rectangle soft box set up at about 7ft.

You can see the images in action on their website here.
